Test drove vehicle-engine and trans operating normally at this time. After warming up, noted rattle noise from engine at idle and lower rpms. Monitored cam timing data, found both cam timing error on both banks between -4 and +5 degrees at idle, should be between -1 and +1 degrees. Engine oil is full but dirty, lube sticker shows lof due 14k miles ago. Recommend lof and perform mechanical oil pressure test. If oil,pressure test is ok, engine likely has timing chain and cam phaser issues.

Mileage169,275Service Date2/3/2025Services Performed- Coolant bottle empty. Topped off fluid, pressure tested-found water pump leaking coolant. Recommend replace water pump, thermostat and water housing gasket, then recheck.
- Valve cover gasket is leaking oil, timing cover also leaking oil. Noted excessive smoke in crankcase when oil cap was removed, indicating pcv ports and/or intake passages are plugged. Recommend replace valve cover gasket, timing cover gasket, and remove intake and clean pcv passages.
- Spark plugs show wear and have burnt oil deposits, non OE Bosch plugs. Recommend replace with OE type. Oil is dirty, no lube sticker. Front and rear brakes at 20% remaining, recommend pads and rotors front and rear. Recommend cabin air filter based on age/mileage.
- All 4 tires are at or near wear bars. Windshield has large crack in it. Wiper blades streaking.
- Removed water pump cover to inspect balance shaft chain. Balance shaft chain shows wear, and tensioner is almost maxed. Unable to inspect main chain without removing valve cover or timing cover. Based on balance shaft chain wear, recommend replace timing chains, guides and tensioners.
- Removed intake manifold and cleaned pcv and intake ports.
- Replaced balance shaft chain, tensioner and guides. Installed new water pump. During repairs, noted exhaust camshaft phaser does not mechanically lock, need to replace phaser. Installed new timing chain set and exhaust phaser. Reassembled all removed components, changed engine oil and filter. Installed new thermostat and filled cooling system. Installed new spark plugs and coil boots, replaced 1 broken ignition coil. Engine starts and runs normally. Test drove-ok. Rechecked for leaks-ok.
